One Question to Help You Heal Your Fear: Episode 250 brought to you by The Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff, Live the Big Stuff Podcast

If you’re struggling with feelings of fear and anxiety right now, you understand what it’s like to deal with ongoing worry, dread and panic. I’ve been there – and believe me, I know it’s no fun!

This past year has certainly caused us all to face more stress and uncertainty than usual. It also has many of us asking ourselves, how can we prevent spiraling into full-blown panic?

There is one simple practice you can deploy next time you’re feeling afraid, anxious, or stressed: you can name your fear. Ask yourself, “what is it that I am so afraid of?”

By examining your fear with openness, kindness, and compassion, you actually begin to dismantle its power.

And once you create this safe, mindful space to investigate what’s troubling you, you mentally break free from the “fight, flight or freeze” mode that has hijacked your limbic system.

With a newfound sense of calm and clarity, we can finally begin to address what’s worrying us and seek the solutions that will help us move into higher ground.

Notice how interrupting your negative, fear-based thoughts by asking this simple, grounded question automatically shifts you into a state of mindfulness.

Try this the next time you’re feeling stressed or anxious; and you’ll soon discover that the best things in life really are on the other side of fear!
