A Self-Compassion Practice
A Self-Compassion Practice
Do you speak to yourself the same way you would to a friend? Our inner dialogue has a transformational affect on our lives. After all, our relationship with ourselves determines our relationship with the world around us! Are you building a regular practice of self-compassion like you with meditation and mindfulness?
…“I look terrible today.”
…“I shouldn’t have said that – why do I always put my foot in my mouth!”
…“Running late again – what a surprise!”
What you say to yourself – and ultimately how you feel about yourself – matters.
When we feel critical, harsh, or judgemental to another, chances are that we are projecting the feelings we have about ourselves to those around us.
Not only does this negative self-talk prevent us from showing up to our friends, family members, and colleagues with love, patience, and kindness, but neuroscience shows that these feelings of shame actually robs our brain of creativity, resourcefulness, and resilience.
Mindfully developing our self-love strengthens our ability to learn from our mistakes, and pivot into healthy new behaviors or solutions with ease.
