Reinvent, Reclaim & Rediscover for 2021

The one thing we all share in common right now, is how life has dramatically changed for all of us.  And, with great change comes the great possibility of transformation. So what does it mean to reinvent, reclaim and rediscover?

Like clay that is smashed and turned over, we are indeed malleable. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not painful to change.

While the excitement of the new year seems in the shadows already, with all the angst of the pandemic and the political unrest, (and the cluster f**k of Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury and the energy these planets bring in this new form), it’s more important than ever that we continue to focus on what really matters to us.

As Saturn is ruling Mercury and Jupiter – the fun planets – It’s time to put our heads down and thoughtfully lay our foundation for the future. In order to flourish, a new chapter calls for a solid structure. (And with Saturn, comes all that we need but not always what we want.)

I’m sure you are feeling that more than ever, this slowdown has forced you to root further into your values and rediscover a new way to live. It sure has been a reset for me on many levels.

Every year, I choose a word (or words) to describe my intention for the energy I’d like to call on, and it serves to help kickstart my motivation and aliven my soul for the coming year.

This year the words that came to me as the overarching themes to life purpose are:

  • Rediscovery
  • Reclaim
  • Reinvent

It’s time to look back on the lessons of this past year and choose what to leave behind with our 20/20 hindsight and look towards what we wish to bring forward. (I actually have 20/21 vision.)

Here’s what three R’s mean for 2021:

  1. REDISCOVER who you are now, after this past year.
  2. RECLAIM your identity.
  3. REINVENT life according to what matters most to you now.

We’ve all changed our ways to adjust to the global pandemic and stay-at-home orders.

I usually lead about eight retreats a year including one international one, and haven’t led one retreat since the Bali retreat trip last year. While I’ve missed going on retreat with wonderful groups of women, I have also appreciated my time at home.

To fill my days, I’ve been spending time on quality meal prep, long hikes with my pooch, (tough!) home workouts with Cass Class Fitness, and simply focusing on family and staying in touch with my friends. And, yes, there have been plenty of zoom calls.

It’s now time to honor the slow down and the reset of what staying at home has brought to us—not taken from us. Once you can honor the gifts and blessings of change, then you know you have transformed. Then, the pain has been worth it.

If you’re still feeling anxiety then possibly you may be in resistance. And, “what we resist shall persist!” Until you meet your fears and worry head on, I know it takes courage to honor what creates worry and anxiety; for many, I don’t want to overlook the fact that right now for many there are real concerns of survival.

But, right now there is also for many, a real opportunity to take stock and discern what you value and align your actions with to what matters most to you.

Wouldn’t you like to rediscover greater health, deeper connections and greater joy? Don’t you wish to reclaim the security of your identity that may have met crisis with change?

…Isn’t it time to honor a total reinvention on all levels?

Now, it’s time to uncover a new vision—a new dream.

One that aligns with who you are, now.

When you have that feeling that you are stuck, the way out is to begin to seek and question so that you can turn inward for wisdom and guidance.

As you deeply feel the longings of your soul, I mean that kind of yearning that brings tears to your eyes, because you wish for it so badly, you can allow that longing to move you forward.

4 things to consider in your quest to reinvent in 2021:

  1. What do you value most right now for your health, your relationships, your joy?
  2. Are you living in accordance with what you value?
  3. Is what you want in your highest good for you and for others?
  4. What small actions are you going to take to move towards what you really want?

There is an inquiry that will profoundly lead you out of confusion; the answers are within and will light the path to your most vibrant life of joy.

There is nothing standing in your way but perhaps—You.
