What’s Next and What Now?
Oct 01, 2015 2021-05-04 21:13What’s Next and What Now?
When you’ve lived half your life and you’re in mid-life, you may find yourself asking the question you thought you had solved already–the question you were asking fresh out of college–”What now? What do I want to be when I grow up?” For whatever reason, you are at a juncture where you are craving what you are most afraid to accept: CHANGE!
Do you feel like something is missing in your life—but on the surface you have everything?
You may secretly be thinking: Is this it? Is this all there is? Isn’t there MORE? What am I here for?
And you feel fear and anxiety–or you are possibly even a little depressed.
I get it. I felt that way just before my life shattered with Richard’s death. I was sleep walking and didn’t realize it until that one life changing event woke me out of my slumber.
Imagine that you are an iceberg among many icebergs in a vast ocean. The ocean is all of life—and you as the iceberg are made from that ocean but only your tip rises to the surface to reveal itself. The rest remains below the water bouncing around and not very visible.
Most people live their lives at the tip of the iceberg—until something shatters the ice into a million pieces representing CHANGE that makes you FEEL your life in a completely new way. You feel the depth of pain, the fear of transition… the messiness of transformation.
But what if you didn’t have to wait for that kind of change and go through that kind of pain? What if you could awaken and feel your life by choice?
What do you think it would take for you to choose happiness and joy, allowing the iceberg to be fully buoyant and recognized, fully embodying the gifts of the ocean and the sea of change?
Living at the tip of the iceberg isn’t living awake; it’s living numb.
Living at the tip is sleepwalking through life. In this rut of routine you feel void of passion and of purpose.
I first heard “the iceberg” used as a metaphor from my good friends, Challenge Day founders Rich and Yvonne Dutra-St. John, and they talk about the iceberg and dropping the waterline to create more connection.
But what if the water around the iceberg came down to also reveal your true essence and who you really are? What if that part of you was brilliantly shining in the ocean happy to be alive?
What if you were like a child again—hopping out of bed to squeal with excitement and delight, thinking, “I get another one of these days to live my life?”
Is there more of those days for you to live? Is your soul calling you to wake up to your inspired life?
Well, of course the answer is YES!
There’s a lot more life to LIVE—and here’s how you wake up!
These four steps will will help you awaken to your most vibrant life YET:
The acronym is: CALM
- Courage – Accessing the courage to step in. Using your judgement that this is an important investment in YOU of your time and energy and maybe, money. There’s help on the way—you don’t have to go it alone.
- Adventure – Embracing the unknown with the spirit of adventure. Transforming fear into excitement.
- Lit from Within by self discovery – Maybe, what’s missing is YOU? It’s time for you to rediscover who you are NOW. It’s about the questions you ask.
- Meaning – Comes from knowing what makes your heart sing. When you know “why” you’re here, then that’s what drives a deep feeling of purpose. That’s when life makes sense.
You don’t have to wait for your life to shatter into pieces to recognize that something—your soul–is daring you to choose to make change happen. It’s igniting your inner fire and lighting you up to melt and reveal way more than the tip of the iceberg.
